Good evening ladies, today I would like to take you to “Wedding-dress” land with two totally different wedding dress designers namely: a Russian designer Maria Pushkova and previously Architec, Jorge Manuel.
In 2010 Jorge Manuel introduced his spring collection themed; Alice in wonderland. Being fairly new to the bridal design scene at the time, his architectural background is eminent to his designs which showcases interesting gorgeous works of structural art.
Then in 2013 Sofoly also introduced a Wonderland collection designed by Maria Pushkova.These romantic, feminine gowns are created in soft pastel colours and detailed with couture embellishments to emphasise beauty and flatter the brides figure. These dresses are what fairy tales are made of…
So close your eyes and follow that rabbit to your newly found “Wedding-dress” land.

There are so many things you could do with a Mad Hatter… tea party that is and still have a sophisticated and likable theme for grown-ups, (but do we ever really grow up?) You can decide upon 1 of 2 colour pallets that would work really well namely: ‘The Bright and colourful’ OR ‘The Pretty vintage look’.
Red, black, hot pink and even some Turquoise… Now let’s add an odd combination of patterns with just enough quirkiness. Embellish with ribbons and rhinestones, trough in a few layers of fabric and you’ll be ready for one mad tea party!
It is important to keep your tea party exciting with ideas which may leave your guest astonished. With the element of surprise make sure your guest receive an unusual invitation and experience an unexpected opening…

This week at Newton & Strauss we are changing things up a bit. Last month we have shared; grey week, eco week and black & white week. (Hope you enjoyed it and found something to inspire you while planning your wedding).
Now for the first week of March I thought I would push your boundaries and maybe show you something you did not consider before. That is why this week we will be looking at Pop Art as a wedding theme. This theme is currently POPPING up everywhere (LOL) and is quite a change from the lovely, vintage chic look that is currently dominating the WWW. This retro theme combines clashing colours, funky fonts and accents inspired by pop-art for a fun filled quirky wedding day
Are you a bride that hates doing what is expected, tired of traditions – why not get married the way your grandmother should have? Well, my modern bride – the 1950’s Pop art theme is definitely something to get excited about.
Bold colours, geometric patterns, vibrant paint hues and oh so retro, get ready for a Pop Art party. This is a theme with lots of personality and even something old. (The Pop Art movement originated in the mid 1950’s in Britain which is very similar to the “mod” trend).

Create table centers using glass bottles such as milk or soda bottles and fill with two or three flowers in vibrant shades.
• Serve up your wedding cocktails in personalized soda bottles.
• For wedding favours or just as a snack give your guests cones of popcorn in different flavours.
• Create a retro inspired bouquet with colourful garden flowers such as dahlias, chrysanthemums and gardenias.
• Use an old fashioned typewriter font for your invitations, menus and other stationery details. If you can get hold of an old typewriter, set it up at your reception as an alternative to a classic guest book and ask your guests to type their messages.

Hire a Wurlitzer jukebox for your cocktail hour and fill with some retro records.
• Dress your bridesmaids in colourful fifties style dresses complete with sweetheart necklines and big skirts.
• This trend will be reflected in the continued popularity of the bride’s ‘little white dress’ with the addition of strong lines and a modern look. Stationary will feature comic illustrations and graphics. Bold, graphic colours and whimsical decor will also be incorporated into the setting. We will also see bite-sized food and drinks such as mini sliders and mini cokes.

As we continue our black and white theme into Thursday cake day, I must admit I had no idea what I wanted to do.I could have easily just posted a few Black and white cake images and said be inspired…
But that would be to easy… so, instead I searched the WWW and found a few alternatives, make it yourself (or pay someone to do it…) wedding cake ideas.
With so many alternative cake ideas just remember that as a general rule of thumb, individual sized desserts work best as they keep their appearance for longer, like cookies. You could choose traditional varieties: Chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin or try some Cupcakes, mini pies, dessert shooters, cake pops, macaroons, whoopee pies etc. These yummy ideas could be anything you want then to be from simple to fancy. Try your hand at some DIY to save a penny or go to the best bakery in town. That is up to you…
Macaroons:

This delicious French confections meringue-based cookies filled with ganache or butter cream, not only looks lovely, but taste delicious. They could be served just as or even as macaroon pops. They also make for an amazing cake if placed in tiers on a cake stand creating a more traditional feel.
Oreo Cookies (or any cookie of your choice):
Just like with the Macaroons you could play around with cookie-pops arranged on a cake stand for guest to sample or simply create a cookie tower, you could also add a milk fountain mmm… Dunk it!
How about a brownie wedding cake… 
Or just some fun cake pops:
Cake pops are delightful little treats that most haven’t tried yet, so they’ll seem incredibly novel to your guest
You might even like a tiered cheesecake…
Donuts: Most people don’t even know how much they love these treats, now can you imagine having three tiers of piled donuts?
Cupcakes:
You could always go for the tried and tested- a simple, yet potentially decadent treat.
Lamingtons:
Although I would love to think of these as traditional treats called Ystervarkies from South Africa, Lamingtons originate in Australia. They are available at almost every church bazaar, making this a delicious and really affordable alternative to the traditional wedding cake.
